Built on a bench, in the backyard

I'm Jeff. I live in Auckland, and this is where I write up the things I build, starting with a motorcycle.

The first project is a 1982 Honda CX500E Eurosport: a red barn find, off the road since 2013, bought on Trade Me in October 2026. It's becoming a café racer in the style of Sacha Lakic's CX500, with a CX650 engine, a single-seat subframe, an upside-down front end and a full LVV certification at the end.

It's built outdoors, under cover, on a timber bench I built first. Everything goes on the record as I go: part numbers, what fitted, what didn't, and the mistakes. If you own a CX, or you've done this before and can see me about to get something wrong, I'd like to hear from you.
